Terbinafine Hydrochloride has been found to be a kind of allylamine antifungal drugs, and it is a specific inhibitor of ergosterol synthesis through squalene epoxidase inhibition. Squalene epoxidase is an enzyme released by skin fungi that decomposes squalene, which interferes with cell membrane function and wall synthesis. Studies have shown that it also reduces the ability of fungal pathogens to produce reactive oxygen species.Therefore,it is considered to be a free radical scavenger and may have anti-inflammatory activity in vitro.
1. Terbinafine is mainly effective against fungal like skin fungi.
2. In the form of 1% cream or powder, it is used topically for superficial skin infections, such as itch (ringworm), athlete's foot (tinea pedis) and other types of ringworm (ringworm). Its working period is about half that of other antifungal drugs.
3. By oral taking 250 mg tablets are usually prescribed for the treatment of onychomycosis, fungal nail infections, usually caused by dermatophytes or Candida.Fungal nail infections are located deep in the cuticle nails and the locally applied treatment cannot fully penetrate into them. These tablets rarely cause liver toxicity,so patients should be warned and liver function tests can be performed. Alternative methods of oral administration have been studied.
4. Terbinafine hydrochloride may induce or exacerbate subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus.Before starting treatment, patients with lupus erythematosus should first discuss possible risks with their doctor.
